Thinners & Retarders

Viponds Acrylic Hot Weather Thinner

Viponds Acrylic Hot Weather Thinner is an additive to slow the drying of water based paint by retarding the evaporation of water from the paint film. It also enhances the flow and wet edge of the paint.

How to use:

  1. Begin with your chosen Viponds water-based paint.
  2. Determine the desired dilution level based on your project needs. Start by adding a small amount of thinner.
  3. Slowly incorporate the thinner into the paint while stirring continuously. This ensures a uniform mixture.
  4. Carefully observe the consistency. If further thinning is required, gradually add more thinner. Exercise caution not to over-dilute, as this can affect paint performance.
  5. Perform a test application on a scrap surface to confirm the desired paint flow and coverage.
  6. Once you achieve the right consistency, your paint is ready for application using your preferred method.

Viponds Acrylic Retarder

Viponds Acrylic Retarder is an additive to slow the drying of water based paint by retarding the evaporation of water from the paint film. It also enhances the flow and wet edge of the paint. Acrylic paint retarders are essential for artists seeking extended drying times and improved paint application properties.

How to use

  1. Select your Viponds water-based paint.
  2. Begin by slowly adding the acrylic retarder to the paint while stirring continuously. The recommended ratio typically ranges from 5% to 10%, depending on your project conditions.
  3. Ensure thorough mixing to create a consistent paint mixture.
  4. Apply the paint as usual, taking advantage of the extended drying time and improved flow and wet edge.
  5. Keep in mind that the addition of a retarder prolongs the drying and curing of the paint film. Plan accordingly, allowing for an additional 2 hours before recoating and 2 days for complete curing.
